A doji is a measurement, not a pause button

Equal, or nearly equal, open and close describe a session that did not choose a side. Students often translate that into a command: wait. Waiting may be wise in a live account. On a printed sheet it is a different task — measure the range of the doji against the prior three bars, and write whether the indecision sits at an extreme or in the middle of nothing in particular.

A doji after a wide-range advance is not the same object as a doji inside a coil. We keep both on the pack, but we refuse to give them the same spoken label. The Saturday lab includes a stack of near-equal closes so the hand learns the difference between “session unfinished in meaning” and “session tiny because almost nothing traded.”

If your sheet cannot show volume or session length, we still refuse to invent it. The candle is allowed to remain a geometry problem.
